Having released the track at the end of August, Maroon 5 have now unveiled a fresh and completely bonkers video for their track “What Lovers Do”.
Singing squirrels and CGI dinosaurs
Maroon 5‘s latest mad catchy single “What Lovers Do” now has a fittingly wild video. Adam Levine and his band enlisted Korean music video director Joseph Kahn to turn their slick radio-ready pop number into an action-packed CGI visual.
The result sees Levine transformed into a singing sunflower and squirrel as he runs after neo soul vocalist SZA who features on the record. Running a marathon, jet-skiing alongside dolphins and playing poker, the two “lovers” are caught up in a bonkers chase scene that ends with Levine waking up in a hospital bed as we realise that the whole video was a sedated fantasy with his nurse, SZA, who stands at the foot of his bed.
There’s a lot packed into the three and a half minute clip. A visual offering confirming once again, that Maroon 5 have mastered the art of music video. “What Lovers Do” is currently at No23 in the Billboard Hot 100 and undoubtedly the video will propel its climb in the charts. We’re still waiting to hear more details from the band on their upcoming sixth album which will supposedly be released in November.
