Lana’s done a Taylor and deleted her Instagram photos and tweets

Lana Del Rey has wiped her entire Instagram account and deleted nearly all of her tweets without any explanation. She’s not the first to take herself off social media this year…

Now you see me, now you don’t

Following the massive success of her latest album “Lust for Life” over the Summer after it debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, Lana Del Rey has disappeared from view deleting the entirety of her Instagram photos as well as the majority of posts on her Twitter account. Her Facebook page, however, remains intact. It’s left us scratching our head. What is Lana trying to tell us?

The few tweets that survived the cut include promotion for previous albums and a lonely tweet from 2009 that simply reads, “Love you”.

Lana isn’t the first to do a social media “blackout”. Taylor Swift timely wiped her social media accounts and official website in the run-up to the release of her sixth album, “Reputation”. It was a pretty effective marketing campaign as it left fans refreshing her accounts in the intense wait for new music.

Ed Sheeran left social media earlier this year out of choice following a barrage of negativity he received after his surprise Game of Thrones cameo in July. He was quoted as saying “the headf*** for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”

As for Lana, we’re left wondering whether she’s “doing a Taylor” in an attempt to keep her name in the game or indeed, whether there’s something else happening we might be hearing about over the next few days… Watch this space.
